Also, Ilana outfit update: she seems to be wearing a plastic yellow skirt and a fringed fanny pack, but a different one than from the “Co-op” episode. I love Ilana’s enthusiasm for their poly sex friends relationship. Lincoln nervously asks Ilana if he can be the head chef at the party, setting it up like he was going to ask her to be his girlfriend. Trey is weird-already tonight he’s sung his own version of Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me”and made a “That’s what she said” joke-but he’s genuinely sweet. I mean, his alter ego porn star Kirk Steele definitely seemed aimed at a gay audience (and Ilana, of course), but I approve of this pairing. Abbi and Trey flirt and begin making out. Ilana searches her apartment for weed, finding it in increasingly strange places: inside a hole in the wall, a green pepper, a set of Russian dolls, up her nose, and in her own hair. Tipsy Abbi rifles through the snacks in Soulstice’s back room when Trey walks in. They decide to throw a party with their fancy appetizers, charging people $10 a head so they can pay back the exterminator. Jaimie thinks it’s his parents, who haven’t spoken to him since he came out months ago, extending a literal olive branch-after all, the basket includes olive tapenade and olive oil. Ilana and Jaime look through the gift basket, finding a note about love and acceptance. She gets a bit too drunk on alcoholic kombucha. The two find a fancy gift basket outside their door.Ībbi goes to the wonderfully named Summer Solstice Soulstice Party. Both her and Jaime are wearing overalls, but she pairs her with one of those horrible black tattoo chokers you see on Tumblr girls or Miley Cyrus. Ilana’s outfits have gotten more and more ridiculous as the show goes on. The roommates hire an exterminator, played by Eugene Mirman, who charges them $400. We see from a rat’s point of view as it terrorizes Ilana and Jaime’s apartment, eating Jaime’s shirts, interrupting Lincoln and Ilana during sex, and, most outrageously, stealing their weed. It’s just fun hanging out with these girls, and it’s nice to see them back together after spending the majority of last week’s episode apart. This week’s episode of BROAD CITY, which follows Ilana and Jaime as they throw a party and Abbi as she tries out Tinder, is an enjoyable half-hour of television, with some solid laughs coming from seeing Ilana trying to be the responsible one-raising money while hunting down a rat-and Abbi the one making bad decisions, meeting up with every single one of her Tinder matches.
